| Municipal Government The Village of Carmacks was established as a municipal corporation effective November 1, 1984 by Order in Council 1984/309. The boundaries were established, and later expanded by a second Order in Council, 1998/218. There had been a Local Improvement District for several years, so the chair and trustees of the L.I.D. were appointed as mayor and council. The first elections were held in November of 1985. * * * Mayors Since Incorporation As chair of the Local Improvement District, Bill Brown was appointed Mayor for the new Village of Carmacks on our incorporation, and served a one-year term. Bill and his wife Mikki made the trip up from Sooke BC to attend the 20 anniversary celebrations in late September of 2004. In November 1985, Luke Lacasse became the first elected mayor, and served until November 1991 when he was defeated by Earl Fields. In October 1996, Luke was re-elected and served until his retirement in 2003. Mick Larkin was elected mayor from October 2003 - 2006. In 2006 Elaine Wyatt was elected into the mayoral position where she won a second term in 2009. Mayor Wyatt is the current mayor of the Village of Carmacks. |
